Biblical Lamenting.
Some notes from reading through Lamentations this afternoon. It turns out that I’m not the only one who feels this way.
- 1:2 - she cries loudly and alone, the one that loved her is gone.
- 1:5 - God is punishing her because of her sins
- 1:6 - her beauty is gone
- 1:7 - she can’t help but think of all of the good things from the past
- 1:8 - she sinned horribly and everyone lost their respect for her
- 1:10 - he reached out and took all of her precious things
- 1:14 - God turned her once-strong spirit into one of weakness
- 1:16 - no one can give her strength again
- 1:22 - God, do unto him what you’re doing to her
- 3:5 - God surrounded her with sadness and attacked her with grief
- 3:18 - “I have no more peace, I have forgotten what happiness is.”
- 3:25 - the Lord is good to those that trust in Him, wait quietly for Him.
- 3:33 - God won’t punish you forever, He doesn’t like punishing you.
- 3:59, 59 - God has given you back your life, because He heard your case. He saw where you were wronged.
- 3:64 - God, pay him back for what he has done
